چکیده

Anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) rearranged spindle cell mesenchymal tumours are an emerging category of soft tissue neoplasm with variable clinical and pathological features.1–3 We describe a case 6-year-old female who presented pigmented lesion on her abdomen. Biopsy the showed low-grade dermally based prominent storiform architecture, some entrapped collagen focal extension into subcutis. There was no mitosis or anaplasia. On immunohistochemistry, tumour cells were CD34+ ALK+ staining for S100, smooth muscle actin (SMA) epithelial membrane antigen (EMA). RNA sequencing performed biopsy detected 5’ to 3’ in-frame fusion LRRFIP1 exon 17 ALK 20. The findings CD34+/ALK+ bland cutaneous confirmed LRRFIP1-ALK consistent ALK-rearranged superficial (aka myxoid neoplasm). recurrence following complete excision lesion. emphasises importance awareness this evolving entity its unique morphologic, immunophenotypic molecular cytogenetic features potential targeted therapy. ALK-rearranged squamous cell carcinoma of the lung

The fusion gene echinoderm microtubule-associated protein-like 4 (EML4)-anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) is identified in approximately 5% of non-small-cell lung cancer patients. A rare case of ALK-positive squamous cell carcinoma of the lung is reported. A 60-year-old man, an ex-smoker with a 720-packs-per-year tobacco smoking history, presented with a mass lesion in the upper lobe of the left...

CD34-positive superficial myxofibrosarcoma: a potential diagnostic pitfall.

BACKGROUND Myxofibrosarcoma (MFS) arises most commonly in the proximal extremities of the elderly, where it may involve subcutaneous and dermal tissues and masquerade as benign entities in limited biopsy samples. We encountered such a case, in which positivity for CD34 and morphologic features were initially wrongly interpreted as a 'low-fat/fat-free' spindle cell/pleomorphic lipoma. Case serie...

ALK-rearranged squamous cell lung cancer: a case report.

ALK rearrangement is a very rare subset of squamous cell cancer of lung and the efficacy of crizotinib treatment for these patients is lack of data. Here we report a case with squamous cell cancer of lung that harbored the ALK rearrangement was given crizotinib in the second-line therapy. A 55-year-old female patient was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma of lung by bronchoscopy biopsy with...

ALK positive inflammatory myofibroblastic tumour of the pineal region.

Inflammatory myofibroblastic tumours (IMTs) are an uncommon spindle cell neoplasm with a dense inflammatory infiltrate, usually encountered in children. IMTs of the central nervous system are extremely rare. This report describes the case of an IMT in a 61 year old man, in the pineal region. The tumour was completely excised, and immunohistochemistry demonstrated anaplastic lymphoma kinase 1 ex...

Tso S, et al. BMJ Case Rep 2017. doi:10.1136/bcr-2017-222002 Description Spindle cell tumour of Reed is a benign melanocytic naevus which usually presents as a deeply pigmented mole. It is more commonly found on the lower extremities of young girls. It is an uncommon naevus but its incidence and prevalence are not known. A Reed naevus typically goes through a rapid initial growth phrase before ...
